Wow, I could live here for certain! We have a customer in Louisiana that wanted a 40' x 40' main residence, with a 16' "breezeway" attaching to a 44' x 30' garage. Once built, we realized that center breezeway is the perfect outdoor living space! It could certainly be used as a drive-thru parking area, but after spending some time in a house designed like this up in the Texas Hill Country, we know the highest and best use of that center space is for outdoor living.
The garage area could easily be converted into a guest cottage with added bedrooms too. Our software unfortunately doesn't give us the option to add the 4th "end wall" needed to enclose the garage from the breezeway, but we have added it to the price-along with an additional walk-in door going from the breezeway to the garage area in that wall.
Going from a 30' wide main structure to a 40' wide main structure also moves us from a "residential" style leg/truss system up to a "commercial" leg/truss system to meet that 40' free span. As such, this version will have a double leg system and heavy raised commercial truss, so the price does jump a bit over the 30' wide main structure model.
